Village of Rib Lake

This photograph shows a steam hauler conveying a sleigh load of peeled hemlock logs through the Village of Rib Lake.  A portion of the home of Ved and Lela Bokath is shown just behind the smokestack.  The modern address for the Bokath house is 310 Park Rd.  This house still stands just north of the village park.  Note the steersman on the front of the steam hauler.  His legs straddle the steering wheel.  The steersman's right hand clasped the steering wheel.  This steering wheel controlled the chains that moved the runners at the front of the steam hauler.  Behind the steersman's feet is a kerosene lamp.
